Garhwal Trip Part-4 (GANGOTRI-TRIP)

.

We were very happy after visiting the Yamunotri temple and we had come back to Janki chatti, somewhere around 10:30am. After a sudden burst of rain during our trek to Yamunotri, we were now on our way to the Gangotri temple.

It is good experience to travel the Garhwal side and we have to drive through part of the same route again to reach our destination Gangotri, via Uttarkashi where we decided to stay that night.

We reached in the evening and stayed at the TRH at GMVN. Next morning we started early towards Gangotri which is around 100km from Uttarkashi, but the road condition was not good.

The weather was clear that morning as we were driving on hill side area and it was a very beautiful scene driving alongside Bhagirathi River. It was a wonderful feeling though a few times we were scared seeing the road condition. We passed along Bhagirathi river and then through Bhatwadi, Harshil, Lanka and Bhairavghati.

                                                                                   The Bhagirathi River

We were very happy to see such nice place and the entire road journey was enjoyed a lot by the all of us till we reached the Gangotrri temple. After reaching the temple we offered our prayers beginning with the darshan first. We had a wish to touch holy Bhagirathi River, so we headed towards river to feel the waters.

. The water was very cold as the river comes from an icy glacier about 18Km from the temple. The glacier is called Gomukh (mouth of the Ganges). We didn’t have time to trek there and hence, decided to get back to Uttarkashi.
