NEPAL TRIP -2 (MANAKAMANA)

After two days in Kathmandu City now we were about to visit Pokharacity which is about 200km from Kathmandu city.
While we were passing through city I was trying to remember a place which was on the way to Pokhara high way. I remembered it was Kurintar from where a cable car takes us to Manokamna temple.

Entrance gate for Manokamana at Kurintar.

I thought of visiting the Manokamana temple again which I had previously visited in 2002. My friend too readily agreed to join in and I booked two tickets for Kurintar.
Passing through valley of Kathmandu, the view was scenic. It took around 3 hours to reach Kurintar. We boarded the cable car to reach the temple situated on the top of mountain and not connected by road yet.

Barely did we reach on the top when it started raining and drenched us completely. The valley and temple was covered in dense misty fog.  From a local shopkeeper selling worship materials like flower in a plate called “Mata kiThali”, we purchased for ourselves and also borrowed an umbrella.

. What a beautiful environment it was when we entered the temple area. There were nepali women were dancing in the rain and some of among them dancing with red nepali dress, all looking gorgeous.

We decided to go to Darshan asap so that we can come back to dancing area again. The atmosphere was refreshing and it did not seem to matter that it has been raining continuously and we were drenched.

MANOKAMANA TEMPLE

This Temple situated in the Gorkha district of Nepal is the sacred place of the Hindu Goddess Bhagwati, an incarnation of Parvati and overlooks the river valleys of Trisuli in the south and Marsyangdi in the west. It is around 100km away from Kathmandu city as well as Pokhara city because it is situated middle of Kathmandu and Pokhara.

                                                                                        Manakamana temple

The name Manakamana originates from two words, “mana” meaning heart and “kamana” meaning wish and it says if you have true wish it’ll be full filled by Maa Bhagawati so, there are millions of devotees visit there every time.
The temple is open whole year for devotees.

After spending a few hours in temple we returned to Kurintar and moved on towards Pokhara.

HOW TO REACH

Kathmanducity is capital of Nepal .There is only one international airport and connected by air across the world, it takes around 3hours to reach Manokamna temple by road from Kathmandu city.

CABLE CAR

In earlier times the only way to reach the Manakamana temple was by walking uphill and it took many hours. Now there is a cable car that runs from the cable station of Cheres, just 5 km east of Mugling to Manakamana. The cable car rides over the distance around 3 km in 10-15 minutes more or less. The cable car usually operates during the daytime from 9am to 5pm stopping during lunch break from noon to half past one.
